Adaptive Design I On Furniture Design for the refugee camp community space

When designing for a community space in the refugee camp, a process that allows configuration and adaptability is more valuable than coming up with a prescribed solution.A flexible design will allow users to enrich the end product according to the multiplicity of their cultural backgrounds and specificities of the camp!

Example: Cushion "X"

Cushion ''X'' is a furniture designed for a community space at the Al Azraq camp as part of the 4.308 ACT class at MIT. It allows different levels of personalization through the selection of materials and transformation of its geometry.By increasing the number and organization of the units, one can produce numerous sitting configurations. In this way, X adapts to the cultural and social needs of different people in the camp to create a piece reflective of their individual backgrounds.
